| With the rapid change and urbanization of the society
as well as the increase of population, mortuary service
and the use of cemetery has become a vital social issue.
Especially, limited land resource in this city has resulted
in a lack of cemetery. Thus, the improvement of mortuary
facilities and services has become the pressing task in
meeting the needs of the public. |

The Existing Facilities
For mortuary services: 5 auditorium halls (Chih-te Hall,
Chui-yuan Hall, Hsiao-chen Hall, Tse-hui Hall, Chin-hsing
Hall), 18 family memorial rooms, 51 cold stores, 8 pre-burial
casket rooms, 1 cosmetic application room, 1 autopsy room,
1 investigation room.
For cremation: 5 cremators, 1 cremated remains collecting
room, 1 bereaved family room, 1 memorial pagoda (with
a capacity of storing the cremains of 15,000 deceased),
1 temporary memorial tower (with a capacity of storing
the cremains of 1,067 deceased) |

Innovation Items
1. Funeral parlor and crematory services are provided
in accordance with ISO-9002 international quality control
standards.
2. Stipulate the appraisal regulations of the quality
of funeral service providers in Keelung City.
3. Provide the information for funeral acknowledgement
and free services; training the emcee and ritual assistants.
4. Completed the planning of the 2nd new cemetery and
implementing the construction project by stages.
5. Administer the bereaved questionnaire survey for making
further improvement.
6. Promulgate and post the service regulations and charge
rates at the entry; Raise the extension charge for the
frequently used facilities, e.g., family memorial room
and cold stores, so as to meet the needs of the public
more sufficiently.
7. Deal with the unclaimed bodies in accordance with the
procedure to alleviate the insufficiency of the refrigeratory
base.
8. Personnel are required to wear the public service vest
to create a brand-new image of public official. |

The Renovation of Facilities
1. Completed the construction of two new auditorium halls-Tse-hui
Hall, Ching-hsing Hall (started using in June, 2004).
2. Planning and subcontracting the construction of a new
cremator, and scheduled to complete the construction by
the end of 2005.
3. Renovation project of the memorial pagoda: Rearrange
the columbarium on the underground floor, paint the 1st
to 5th floor, and repair the exterior wall to strengthen
the structure and embellish the externals so as to enhance
the utility rate. The project is expected to be completed
in May 2005.
4. Renew the underground piping around the funeral auditorium
and memorial room, and the project is scheduled to be
completed by the end of 2005. |
